Many are asking: How will the weather shape up in the run-up to Christmas Day? It’s simple. The Maltese Islands will continue to find themselves sandwiched in between high pressure to the east, and low pressure to the west. It’s the meteorological setup that will ensure southerly to westerly winds across the central Mediterranean. This wind will blow warm air from over the Sahara Desert towards our region, maintaining maximum temperatures of 20 C + till Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Nighttime lows should not dip to below 14 C. Also, there will be very little, if any, rainfall till then. If this happens, it will prove us correct. We had predicted a warmer and drier December.

Ħafna qed jistaqsu: Kif se jkun it-temp fil-jiem ta’ qabel il-Milied? Sempliċi. Il-Gżejjer Maltin għandhom jibqgħu jsibu ruħhom maqbudin bejn pressjoni għolja lejn il-lvant, u pressjoni baxxa lejn il-punent. Din se tkun il-kaġun li riħ minn nofsinhar għal punent jipprevjeni madwar iċ-ċentru tal-Mediterran. Dan ir-riħ se jonfoħ arja sħuna minn fuq id-deżert tas-Sahar lejn ir-reġjun tagħna, u b’hekk iżomm l-ogħla temperaturi 20 C + sa Jum il-Milied jew l-għada. L-anqas billejl mhux mistennija jinżlu taħt 14 C. Minbarra hekk, se jkollna ftit li xejn xita sa dakinhar. Jekk dan iseħħ, jfisser li aħna konna korretti. Aħna konna għidna li Diċembru se jkun aktar sħun u niexef minn normal.
