Warmer and drier weather is on the cards for the Maltese Islands from Sunday 15/12. A zone of high pressure will build up across the eastern Mediterranean. Its edge will extend towards the central Mediterranean. Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will be present over the Iberian Peninsula. This setting of pressure systems will cause a shift in wind direction to the South. The southerly wind will blow warmer air from over the Sahara Desert towards us. The air will also be humid. Starting from Sunday, and lasting till the weekend, temperatures will once again rise to 20 C during the day. At 14 C or above, nighttime lows will also be warmer than recent days. The wind will be mainly moderate to strong from the South.
