The last time any rain was measured in the Maltese Islands was 41 days ago, when a heavy rain shower produced up to 30.5 mm in localised areas. Some instability may bring some rain to our shores this week. Cooler air aloft will drift towards the central Mediterranean by midweek. This is likely to destabilise the atmosphere above our region, especially when considering the contrast it will create with the very warm sea around the Maltese Islands. The unstable atmosphere, which will likely develop an area of showers and thunderstorms across parts of the central Mediterranean, will be centred over southern Italy. If conditions are right, rain could reach the Maltese Islands too. The chance of rain is highest on Wednesday 02/09 and Thursday 03/09. The chance of rain continues to vary between 45% and 65%. Expected total rainfall is also varying widely, with low amounts being more probable. If it does rain, it will probably be isolated, with some localities probably remaining completely dry. Updates will be issued on our site when and if necessary. The rest of the week is set to feature mainly sunny or partly cloudy skies. With a 34°C high and 25°C low, Monday 31/08 will be this week’s hottest day clique neste link. Temperatures will then dip from Tuesday 01/09, with 30°C / 31°C highs and 22°C / 23°C lows on all remaining days. Whilst the wind direction will change almost daily, most days will be characterised by a mainly light to moderate wind.
